December 30: Police in Kulgam have arrested two bootleggers and recovered 22 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession.
Officers at a checkpoint established near Tehsil Office Kulgam intercepted two suspicious persons identified as Mohd Younis Ganie @Yuni resident of Panipora and Firdous Ahmad Lone resident of Chawalgam. During checking, officers were able to recover 22 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Kulgam where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, case FIR No. 234/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Kulgam and further investigation is in progress.
Locals have lauded the efforts of Police and appealed to continue such drives in future as well. Police has resolved to act tough against inimical elements.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding anti social elements in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in anti social activities will be dealt as per law.
