March 09: Acting tough against the drug dealings, Police in Kulgam have arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
Acting on specific information regarding drug dealings in Nowpora Akhran area, a police party headed by I/C PP Mirbazar under the supervision of SDPO Qazigund and SHO PS Qazigund rushed to the spot and apprehended a notorious drug supplier/peddler of the area identified as Showkat Ahmad Palla son of Mohd Maqbool Pala resident of Nowpora Akhran. During checking, officers were able to recover 15gms of Charas and 5Kgs of Poppy Straw from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to PS where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case FIR No.43/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
