PDP Boycotts Delimitation Commission, Terms it as Pre-planned Process

Srinagar , July 6: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has written a letter to the delimitation commission deciding not to meet the commission, adding that it boycotts the delimitation commission.

“This commission was set up after the abrogation of Article 370, so it is illegal and unconstitutional,” PDP wrote in the letter.A letter written to the commission by PDP General Secretary Ghulam Nabi Hanjura was released on Tuesday.The letter mentioned that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have reservations about the commission and many questions have been raised about it.Letter also stated that the PDP has decided to boycott the meeting with the commission as there is a perception in Jammu and Kashmir that the delimitation by the commission is already in place and further claims that meeting the commission will hurt the public interest.The letter was addressed to Justice (retd) Ranjana Prakash Desai, chairperson of the delimitation commission.It may be recalled that the Commission is coming on a four-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir from Tuesday and besides the Chairperson, it includes Chief Election Commission Shushil Chandra and State Electoral Officer of Jammu and Kashmir K.K Sharma.
