Tral, 24-Nov; The administration carried out a market checking drive in the Pachyhar fruit Mandi area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday.Officials told that on the directions of Assistant Director Food Civil and Consumer Affairs Pulwama, Inayatullah the team of Enforcement and District market checking square headed by TSO enforcement wing Abdul Rashid Khan conducted market checking in the area.Various business units including hotels and restaurants were checked. During the checking, amount of Rs 2200 was fined from various units, besides huge quantities of rotten edibles were destroyed on the spot. Many units were found using domestic gas instead of commercial gas for their units. “During inspection huge quantity of rotted food, expired spices and sweets were found in the units and destroyed on spot in presence of the shopkeepers by the team and accordingly imposed fine to the tune of twenty two hundred from the erring shopkeepers on spot, Spokesperson Sanaullah Dar said.The shop keepers and hotel units were also warned not to keep expired items in their establishments; otherwise strict action shall be initiated under Essential commodities Act 1955.The general public also appealed before buying the items to check out the expiry and manufactured date of the item, he said.(CNS)
