High court of J&K and Ladakh has appreciated the efforts of the office of Advocate General in collecting and compiling the information regarding corruption cases.Hearing a Public Interest Litigation at the Jammu wing of the court, a division bench of Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal and Justice Javed Iqbal Wani appreciated the efforts of the Advocate general office for compiling the details. As the related Public Interest Litigation came up for hearing, the AG informed the court about the compilations. The first compilation, he said, gives the picture of the cases where the government has granted sanction for the prosecution of the officers year-wise with full details of every officer. The AG said the second compilation is regarding the FIRs registered with the Anti-corruption Bureau, wherein sanctions are pending with the General Administration Department (GAD) while third compilation is regarding the regular departmental actions taken in 2020 and 2021.The last compilation, the AG said, is regarding the advisories and alert notes issued by the GAD to the officers of the various departments. The AG submitted before the court that the message is very loud from the Government that there shall be no delay in grant of prosecution sanctions in corruption cases and that no tainted person shall be assigned the sensitive positions.“We appreciate the efforts put in by the office of the Advocate General in collecting and compiling all the above information within the short span of time and to place it before the court,” the DB said.In response to his submission, the Court granted advocate S. S. Ahmed counsel for the petitioners a month’s time to go through the reports and to come up with his suggestions on the next date.In the PIL the petitioners highlight the slow approach of the Government in granting prosecution sanctions in corruption cases.
