Baramulla, 04-Jan; Senior leader BJP from Baramulla and in charge of the Kupwara district Anwar khan termed the brazen act of violence on cart vendors as unjustified adding that no sane person can admire it.The Municipal Council Baramulla employees took action against the road side vendors and were caught on video harassing and toppling the carts near Azadgunj bridge in Baramulla. The employees were seen destroying and toppling the eatables from the carts, an act that people in the market termed as brazen act of injustice. The locals alleged that the MC Baramulla employees instead of removing encroachment from footpaths, outside shops and in the main market, took action against few selected cart vendors.“The business community, cart vendors have already faced a lot during the pandemic and destroying, toppling their carts is totally against the law. They should have been warned, fined and brought to justice through proper channels,” khan said.He said that the cart vendors must be paid for the losses they suffered by the action of MC Baramulla employees. The locals alleged that the MC Baramulla employees are hand in gloves with shopkeepers and cart vendors in the market and recieve ‘Hafta’ from them while as cart vendors don’t pay any bribe.Meanwhile Chairman MC Baramulla Touseef Raina while apologising to the affected persons said that the department had time and again requested the cart vendors not to block the road and cause problems for the people. He however said that destroying of eatables isn’t a good step and assured action against the employees.“My apologies to the affected persons, and I assure them full support from our side for the losses they’ve suffered. Such misbehavior and ill-treatment with people —won’t be tolerated at any cost”, Mc President Touseef Raina tweeted.(CNS)
