Full dress rehearsal for R-Day held across valley

Srinagar, 24-Jan; Amid chilly weather conditions, full dress rehearsals for the Republic Day celebrations were held in Jammu Kashmir’s summer capital, Srinagar, and elsewhere in the valley on Monday amid unprecedented security arrangements.The main rehearsal was held at S K Cricket Stadium in high security Sonawar area of the city, where Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, P K Pole unfurled the National flag and took salute at the march past and witnessed cultural programme.On the occasion, various contingents including BSF, CRPF, SSB, JKAP, IRP, lady contingent, SDRF, F&ES and FPF participated in the March- past parade, besides band contingents of BSF and JKP also participated in the March- past.A variety of cultural programmes organised by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, (JKAACL), were presented by both male and female artists during the rehearsals. Artists enthralled guests and audience with their colourful performances in different languages.Various senior civil administration and police officers were present on the occasion.All roads leading to the venue of the R-Day celebrations were closed for any traffic movement since Monday morning.The main Residency road to stadium was closed at Polo-view since early this morning. Similarly, road to venue of the rehearsal was closed at Sonawar crossing and vehicles were directed to take alternative route.A large number of security forces and police personnel were deployed to prevent any attempt to disrupt the celebrations.Reports of full dress rehearsal celebrations were also received from other district headquarters in the valley, where Deputy Commissioners, hoisted the national flag and took salute at the march past.In Baramulla, Full dress Rehearsal was held at District Police Lines Baramulla.On the occasion Shri Mohd Rafiq Lone, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Baramulla hoisted the national Flag accompanied by Shri R K Parihar, Addl. SP Baramulla and took Salute to the participating contingents of March past comprising of JKP, CRPF, SSB, IRP, F&ES, Home Guards, NCC Cadets and school contingents. The parade was commanded by parade commander Sh. Dheeraj Kumar-JKPS, DySP (Probationer). The march past was followed by colourful cultural programmes presented by Orchestra Team of DPL Baramulla and students of different institutions of the district.Sh. Bupinder Kumar-IAS, DM Baramulla, Sh. Rayees Mohammad Bhat-IPS, SSP Baramulla and other officers of Police, Army, CRPF, SSB and civil administration were present during the full dress rehearsal.In Pulwama,The full dress rehearsal for Republic Day parade, concluded successfully across the district, giving a glimpse of the grand spectacle to unfold.
