Srinagar, 25-Jan; Two north Kashmir residents, have been arrested and over 2 kg of Brown Sugar, worth about Rs fifteen Crore in international market, was seized from their possession at Kralgund in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday evening. A senior police official said, ahead of the 73rd Republic day. A Naka was established at Wangam crossing on the Handwara-Baramulla highway for searches. He stated that during the Naka police party, signalled a vehicle (DL9CJ 2559) to stop, but the people in the vehicle attempted to flee the scene. The Naka party tactfully stopped the vehicle and apprehended the duo. During the search, police discovered 2 kilograms of heroin having International market value 15 crores, and the pair was taken to Kralgund police station. Police have identified them as Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, a resident of Rohama Rafiabad, and Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Badan Rafiabad. According to police, the duo is involved in the drug trade in parts of North Kashmir, including Baramulla, Handwara, and Sopore. Meanwhile, an FIR no 04/2022 u/s 8/21,29 NDPS has been filed at Police Station Kralgund and further investigations have been initiated.(CNS)
