Mission Youth: Bandipora admin launches month long awareness cum counselling programmes

    Bandipora, 14-Feb: The Bandipora District Administration on Monday formally launched the month long awareness activities under Mission Youth in the district.Additional District Development Commissioner Bandipora Ali Afsar Khan inaugurated the inaugural awareness-cum-career counselling Session under mission Youth and PMEGP at Mini-Secretariat Bandipora.Speaking on the occasion Ali Afsar Khan said detailed calendar has been drafted to start various programmes under Mission Youth including career counseling, Psycho Social Counseling besides other educational activities and awareness regarding schemes for assistance to establish income-generating units. The activities shall continue till 21 March 2022. He said the activities shall be carried out at Panchayat level in every Panchayat to ensure maximum participation of youth.He said the programmes shall include awareness regarding initiatives under Mission Youth and PMEGP, career-counseling, On-spot registration under various Mission Youth Schemes, Special Session for Girls regarding awareness about Women Specific Employement Generation Initiatives, Data updation of unemployed youth, feedback and suggestions from youth besides holding special meetings with PRIs and District Administration officers.Khan said several projects proposed by the district administration under mission youth shall help the youth to uplift their socio-economic conditions besides providing platform to the youth for education and employment. He said the administration is also going to conduct civil services coaching and coaching for under competitive exams under the mission.ADDC Bandipora said the district is bestowed with a predominantly young population which is a valuable human resource which must be put to constructive engagement. He said Mission Youth is the apex body of the government for youth engagement and outreach in J&K. He said that the core agenda of Mission Youth is to positively engage youth for their overall well being within the society by making them stakeholders in the development of the Union Territory.Joint Director Planning while speaking on the occasion said that the programme is conceived with an objective to facilitate the engagement of youth in sustainable socio-economic development of J&K; to help young people to realize their full social, economic and human potential, to foster the social integration of youth within communities and enhance youth employability, contribution to effective delivery of basic services to the people of J&K in the times of distrust, natural calamities, pandemics, to set up micro youth clubs for youth engagement at Panchayat level.
