Security situation improved in north east, J-K areas in last 8 yrs: Shah

Srinagar, 21-Oct; Home Minister Amit Shah has said the country has witnessed a positive change in internal security scenario in the last few years. He said, earlier, the incidents of violence were on the rise in northeast, Jammu and Kashmir, and left-wing extremism-affected areas.Shah added that now such incidents have come down drastically in the last eight years. Shah said this after paying tribute to the martyred soldiers at the National Police Memorial in Delhi on the occasion of ‘Police Commemoration Day.The situation in Jammu and Kashmir is such that those who used to hurl stones at security personnel earlier have now become “panches” and “sarpanches”, Shah added.The Minister said, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several measures have been undertaken to strengthen the internal security of the country. Shah said, earlier in Northeast, armed forces were given special power, now youth are given special powers for their progress.As the Police Commemoration Day is observed on 21st October every year to honor the loyalty and supreme sacrifice of police personnel for the nation. ten valiant Central Reserve Police Force, CRPF personnel were martyred during patrol duty at Indo- China border in an ambush laid by heavily armed Chinese troops.In the last one year, 264 police personnel were martyred this year and so far 36 thousand 59 brave police personnel have laid down their lives for the country.
