Srinagar,17-Dec;At least 6 residential houses were gutted in massive fire that broke out in Habba Kadal area of Srinagar last evening.As per reports, at least six residential houses were damaged in a late evening fire incident in a congested chandpora area, leading chaotic scenes at the spot.Locals said apparently due to short circuit in one of the houses, the fire spread to other five neighbouring residential houses, resulting severe damage to the involved structures.They added soon after the fire erupted in the area the locals swung into action and started rescue operation who were joined instantly by police and fire tenders. “With the joint efforts of locals volunteers, police and officials of Fire & Emergency Department, the fire was brought under control”, locals said.“The fire spread to other residential structures within half an hour. Had not we evacuated our children to safer places, God forbid there would have colossal loss of life as well”, the affected families said.Meanwhile, the affected family and their relatives have urged the authorities to help them in this difficult time and have also urged them to rehabilitate them.
