Vice Chancellor SKUAST-J chairs SFURTI interface session with stakeholders, aspiring entrepreneurs

SAMBA, DECEMBER 26: Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-J, Dr. J P Sharma, along with Dr Hina Shafi Bhat, Vice Chairperson, J&K KVIB, today presided over the SFURTI interface session with the stakeholders /educated unemployed youth and aspiring entrepreneurs at Samba.Vice Chancellor SKUAST-J, while speaking on the occasion, exhorted upon the youth to adopt agro entrepreneurship as a profession which has great potential in the Jammu division. The SIWAST-3 will facilitate the youth by providing them all types of technical handholding support for coming under the ambit of agro-entrepreneurship like beekeeping, animal husbandry and sheep husbandry which has a good demand on day to day basis and can generate good number of employment at the doorstep of entrepreneurs, he added. He said that this will also which arrest and discourage rural migration towards urban areas.The session was attended by the senior officers from Board, faculty of SKUAST-J Department of Entomology, district administration, banks, aspiring entrepreneurs and educated unemployed youth hailing from the district.Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Hina Shafi said that J&K KVIB in convergence with SKUAST-J has adopted holistic approach to create eco-friendly environment for the first generation agro-entrepreneurs in Jammu division. In this regard, the KVIB is implementing schemes of Government of India in J&K under the leadership of Prime Minister and guidance of Lieutenant Governor of the UT to reach out to the masses in general and youth in particular, she added. The aim is to provide the beneficiaries a fair and conducive environment creating employment in the length and breadth in J&K to make the UT economically prosperous.She exhorted upon the youth to come forward and associate with the SFURTI Masterjee Beekeeping Cluster Samba so that their earnings can be doubled by value addition of honey to produce different products of honey like Soaps, Candles, Cosmetic items and ayurvedic medicines.She added that the J&K KVIB will soon come up with skill development programmes which shall enhance the skills of youth in particular scheme which shall be undertaken by them for employment generation. She advised the youth to avail benefit of self employment schemes and become job provider rather job seeker.She said that since last three years, a margin money of Rs.1288.98 lakh with bank loan of Rs.2000.00 lakh has been provided for establishment of 675 units thereby creating employment opportunities for more than 6000 persons under JKREGP and PMEGP in Samba district through J&K KVIB.
