Awareness program on Menstrual Hygiene held at BHQ Bishnah

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 07: An awareness programme on Menstrual Hygiene Management was today organised at Block Headquarter Bishnah by the Directorate of Rural Sanitation, J&K.Director, Rural Sanitation J&K, Charandeep Singh was the chief guest on the occasion.The program was also attended by Member DDC Bishnah, Dharminder Kumar; Chairman BDC Bishnah, Surjit Kumar; Assistant Commissioner Development, Preeti Sharma; Deputy Director Rural Sanitation, Sanna Khan; Field Officer, Rural Sanitation Sania Haq Khan and Block Development Officers of all Blocks of the district Jammu.The Director Rural Sanitation, in his keynote address, said that Menstruation is a natural process. However, in most parts of the country, it remains a taboo and is rarely talked about, which leads to gender issues and all anti social activities.The focus of the program was to create awareness among women on personal hygiene particularly on Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) and the participants were asked to act as ambassadors for sensitizing other women to maintain MHM safe and hygienic sanitation, the Director Rural Sanitation said. Further he also emphasized the introduction of Pink Toilets in schools. During the event the Director, Rural Sanitation, J&K, also flagged off a rally of students.During the event, the girl students of GHSS Sarore and GHSS Bishnah performed the nukad natak on awareness of menstrual hygiene. Sarpanch panchayat halqa Trewa, Balbir Kour and Dr. Aisha also spoke on the important issue of menstrual hygiene, its sustainability when it comes to overall health management and emphasized on cleanliness and hygiene.The programme was concluded with the distribution of prizes and awards to all the participants and dignitaries by Chief Guest and vote of thanks to the Chief Guest by Member, District Development Council, Bishnah, Dharminder Kumar.
