Kulgam,17-Mar; Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Kulgam arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession. In a statement issued, Police spokesperson said that during Naka checking at Parigam crossing the police party led by SHO Behibagh noticed one suspicious person identified as Javid Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Akbar Bhat resident of Arwani who was carrying a gunny bag and intercepted him subsequently.After checking, officers present were able to recover 13 Bottles of Codeine phosphate like contraband substance (100 ml each) from his possession.Regarding the incident, case FIR No. 22/2023 U/S 8/21 of NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Behibagh and investigation has been taken up.Meanwhile, Community members are requested to extend full cooperation to police and to share the information regarding anti social activity in their neighbourhood with nearby police unit so that timely action against the culprits will be taken
