Srinagar Police arrests drug peddler, psychotropic substances recovered

October 23: Acting tough against the drug dealings, Police in Srinagar have arrested a drug peddler and recovered psychotropic substance from his possession.

Officers in the jurisdiction of Police Station Parimpora intercepted a vehicle Alto bearing registration number JK22A-9281 with one person on board. He has been identified as Bilal Ahmad Mir resident of Nowpora Tral. During checking, officers were able to recover 425 bottles of codeine phosphate and 2304 capsules of Spasmoproxyvon from his possession.

He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Parimpora where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, a case FIR No.230/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Parimpora and investigation has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
