Bandipora Youth Sports festival concludes

Srinagar, October 28: The month long youth sports festival organized by J&K Police in Bandipora concluded today with the closing ceremony held at Indoor Stadium Shadipora. Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Dilbag Singh was the chief guest on the occasion.

Brig. 03 sector Shri Maheshwar Singh, DC Bandipora Dr. Owais Ahmad, SSP Bandipora Shri. Rahul Malik, ASP Bandipora Shri Ashiq Hussain Tak and other senior civil, police and CAPF officers were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the DGP appreciated the SSP Bandipora and his team partners and members of the technical teams for conduct of the mega event and managing it smoothly and professionally for a month. He said that this event was one of its kind in which not only 228 teams from Bandipora District but also from other districts of Kashmir valley participated in different sports competitions. He said that witnessing the finals was a treat to eyes as the performances were of national standards.

The DGP said that witnessing today’s Kabaddi finals brought back the memories of times when he used to take part and witness such sports activities in school and in his college days. He congratulated the winner and runner up teams for putting up a great show and wished them good luck for the future. He appreciated all 228 teams which took part in Football, Volleyball, Cricket and Kabaddi events and added that such events would constantly encourage the youth to take part in such positive activities.

The DGP said that when teams are playing against each other, it not only brings team spirit and fairplay but also spreads positivity all around. He said that positive energy creates positive attraction and added that we need to take this energy to the next level by engaging more youth in such positive activities. He said that Jammu and Kashmir Police is always ready to guide and assist youth to excel in different sports.

The DGP said that Jammu and Kashmir during the past over three decades witnessed enough of violence and destruction with huge loss of life and property and added that this is the time when we all need to make a collective effort to ensure peace and happiness here. He said that Jammu and Kashmir is known for its scenic beauty and rich culture across the globe and added that youth of J&K need to follow rich traditions and values of Jammu and Kashmir so that the dream of peaceful and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir is realised.

The mega sports event in Bandipora was inaugurated on September 30 in which 228 teams participated in different sports which included Volleyball, Football, Kabaddi and Cricket.

SSP Bandipora Shri Rahul Malik thanked the DGP for gracing the closing ceremony. He highlighted the different youth oriented programmes organized in the district and also thanked support groups, media and participating teams for making the event a great success.
