As a unique initiative, a friendly match between Specially Abled Team of District Kulgam and Winners of Police Martyrs Memorial Cricket Tournament-2020 was played today at Sports Stadium Kulgam in presence of huge gathering of spectators. The event was organized by District Police Kulgam under civic action programme in memory of Police martyrs for their supreme sacrifices in safeguarding the unity and integrity of the Nation.
The match was played not only to boost the morale of specially abled persons of the district but it can emerge as a pivotal of push in making these persons strong and confident so that they can compete in any challenge ahead side by side to other people.
Specially abled team won the toss and batted first played with extraordinary enthusiasm and scored 150 runs with important contribution and unbeaten knock of 54 runs by Rashid Ahmad who was declared as Man of the Match later, while chasing the target Qaimoh cricket club were bundelled out on 123 Runs and lost the match by 28 Runs.
DC Kulgam Shri Showkat Aejaz Bhat-KAS (Chief guest)and SP Kulgam Shri Gurinder Pal Singh-IPS interacted with participants and applauded the efforts put forth by Specially abled team and encouraged them. Officers including Addl SP Kulgam Shri Mohd Yousuf-JKPS, DYSP DAR Kulgam Shri Sheikh Tahir Amin-KPS were present to grace the occasion. Later DC Kulgam and SP Kulgam distributed sports Kit and facilitated the players with awards to boost their morale.
DC Kulgam and SP Kulgam listened the grievances of participants and people present with patience and assured them that their genuine problems will be solved on priority basis and every possible help will be provided by District Administration and Kulgam Police. While addressing media persons DC Kulgam assures that more events will be organized in the District in future too so that talent of Youth will be explored and channelized towards positive direction.
The spectators, participants, especially the specially abled team on the occasion hailed the initiative and the support of District Police Kulgam and urged that more platforms will be provided to them in future too.
