Srinagar, 26-May: Nine persons were killed in a tragic road accident after a vehicle rolled down a deep gorge along Zojila Pass in Sonamarg in central-Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.As per reports, a Tavera car JK12-7466 travelling from Kargil to Sonamarg skidded off the road and fell into the 400-ft deep gorge at Zojila pass Mandir Morh after the driver purportedly lost control over the vehicle resulting to the onspot death of 4 Persons while five persons later succumbed to the injuries in hospital one among was seriously injured. The deceased persons were identified as Azhar Iqbal son of Liyakat Hussain (driver) resident of Poonch, Ankit Dileep son of Dileep Kumar resident of Surat, Gujarat, Gandhi Marmu his father Mangal Marmu son of Qadam Marmu residents of Jharkhand, Ranjit Kumar son of Rohit Kumar, resident of Phathankot Punjab, Muhammad Aslam Parray son of Abdul Rashid Parray resident of Kulgam, Nanak Chand (Naib Subedar) son of Bhagvan Chand resident of Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, Dileshwar Sidhar son of Gorakhnath, resident of Sidar Chattisgarh and Sunil Lal.Soon after receiving the information Police party from Police Station Sonamarg along with health team and Traffic Police immediately started rescue operations in the area.After heavy efforts rescue teams managed to bring out 7 dead bodies and the injured one from the deep gorge. The rescue operation was started early on Thursday again and more two dead were recovered.(CNS)
