Anantnag,21-Apr; The pollen from Russian poplar trees and plantations is creating havoc in urban ,suburban and villages of Kashmir specifically in Anantnag town and it’s neighbourhoods where most of the population senior citizens and kids are infected with allergic reactions causing breathlessness ,vomiting and other complications like fever ,headaches, nausea etc ,The schools are witnessing less wards on roll as most of the kids stay home because of these symptoms which are Covid like and make the infected ones isolated socially as well .one of the prominent Pvt school administrator has confirmed that more than 100 students of its primary standards have taken off because of the above allergic symptoms which are caused due to pollen from Russian poplar trees which have inhabited the human habitations despite repeated warnings and instructions from the administration against it but the stiff necked selfish lot defy the administration directives and continue to plant these hazardous trees and plantations close to the human habitations without caring for the health hazards they bring for the kids ,elderly and sick ones who are susceptible to allergic pollen .Civil society voices ,social conscious voices and activists have raised this issue again with an appeal to Divisional administration, District administration ,ULB Directorate to enforce the cutting of these hazardous trees and plantations particularly near the human habitations all over the valley. One young activist and social voice from SK colony Anantnag Amir Khandey has requested DC Anantnag, Chairman town area committee Anantnag and other officials to take cognizance of this menace as the Usman abad sk colony inhabitants are experiencing sickness caused due to this pollen. “’The poplars are standing tall in the area near the house of Mohd shafi Zargar and adjacent areas which also are a big threat in the situation of windstorm and now main cause of the allergic ailments, this is the scenario everywhere each area of Kashmir is experiencing the same symptoms and inconvenience because of the pollen from such plantation”,he added Mudasir Qadri a famous media professional has also raised concerns about this grave situation and has appealed the administration to ensure cutting of Russian poplars at least inside the human habitations.
