Srinagar ,22-Dec; Asha workers working in various blocks of south Kashmir’sKulgam district of valley on Wednesday appealed authorities to release their withheld salaries without any further delay.A delegation of workers while speaking to alleged that no salary has been paid to them from past four months making their life miserable and pushing their families to starvation.The ASHA workers said that they had been rendering their services efficiently for the past two decades without regular and adequate salary.They said that besides their overburdened assignments, their services were being utilised to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic for the past year with a meager amount of Rs 1000 as remuneration.”The problem is persistent for several years. No permanent solution for it has been found till date and the Asha workers continue to suffer,” they added.They urged that the matter be sorted out and taken up with appropriate authorities and the government should ensure regular disbursement of salaries.(CNS)
