Auqaf express resentment over disallowing prayers at Jamia Masjid

    Srinagar, 19-Nov;Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid Srinagar has expressed strong resentment over the decision by authorities to once again disallow Friday prayers at Jammu & Kashmir’s largest place of worship – the historic Jama Masjid Srinagar. It has vehemently condemned the action.

    In a statement here, it read that Anjuman and the Muslims of Kashmir are unable to understand that why Jama Masjid Srinagar continues to be selectively banned and restricted from holding Friday prayers, which is extremely unfortunate and incomprehensible.”It is extremely unfortunate and disdainful of the authorities to disallow Muslims of the valley from praying at the Central mosque by use of brute force and cause then hurt and grief. Muslims of the valley denounce this injustice and interference in religious freedom in strongest terms the Anjuman said and register their protest”, statement reads.
