Awareness camp organized by horticulture department in Kulgam

    Kulgam, 04-Dec; An awareness/training camp was organized at Rest House Chawalgam, District Kulgam by the Department of Horticulture on Saturday.The camp was organized as per the directions of Principal Secretary Horticulture, Shri Navin Kumar Chowdhary and was 5th of its kind. The main purpose of the training/awareness camp was to aware the farmers about the different Departmental Schemes in vogue particularly newly launched Modified High Density Scheme. Director General Horticulture Kashmir Mr. Ajaz Ahmad Bhat (JKAS) was the Chief Guest of the function. DDC Chairperson, Kulgam Mr. Mohammad Afzal Parray also graced the occasion. Various BDC and DDC members along with PRIs attended the camp. Chief Horticulture Officer, Kulgam, President CA Stores Association Kashmir, District Lead Bank Manager Kulgam, and various entrepreneurs participated in the camp. The camp was attended by a large number of progressive orchardists. At the outset of function Chief Horticulture Officer Kulgam Dr. M. Iqbal Baba, welcomed the Director General and other participants to the camp. He then highlighted the present scenario of the Horticulture sector in the district and appraised the participants about various developmental schemes including Modified High-Density Scheme.Addressing the gathering, Director General Horticulture, elaborated in detail about the incentives available under the various central and UT sponsored schemes of the department viz. MIDH, PMDP, SMAM, PMKSY, CAPEX etc., and urged the farmers to come forward and avail the benefits under these schemes. Regarding the modified High-Density Scheme, he encouraged the farmers of the area particularly marginal and small farmers to come forward and take the advantage of newly launched Scheme.
