Ganderbal,12-Apr: DDC Chairperson Ganderbal Nuzhat Ishfaq today visited Kondbal Ganderbal to convey her condolence to the bereaved family of Khurshed Ahmad Larwal who lost his precious live in a stone quarry incident at Safapora yesterday.Nuzhat on the occasion said that need of the hour is to provide health insurance cover to such labourers and their families besides having an old age pension scheme to help such labourers live a dignified life in their old age.“The administration is duty bound to prepare a list of such labour force and ensure their wellbeing both physically and mentally as they are involved in various types of menial labour activities across J&K . These people work in highly hazardous conditions without necessary safety gears and other life saving safety gadgets making them susceptible to such untoward incidents. Belonging to the lowest ladder of the society these people have no option but to work in such perilous conditions to ensure two plain square meals to their families. It is the responsibility of the administration to ensure their wellbeing,” she said.While expressing solidarity and sympathy with the bereaved family, she prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul. Nuzhat also visited the residence of person Ghulam Nabi Larwal, who was injured in the accident.DDC Chairperson handed over cheques worth Rs. 50 thousand to the Next of Kin of the deceased and 10 thousand to the injured. Nuzhat also spoke to Director SKIMS to provide all medical facilities to the injured.She was accompanied by former MLA Ganderbal Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar, DDC Wakura, DDC Safapora along with other officers(CNS).
