Disengaged Anganwadi Workers, Helpers stage protest, Demand Payment of Wages, Regularization Of Services

    Srinagar, 28-Feb;Jammu and Kashmir Helpers to Supervisors Association of ICDS department today staged a protest in Press Enclave Srinagar, demanding regularization of their services, payment of their pending wages.Raising slogans in demand of regularization and payment of their salaries, they said that their wages are pending since last three years, with the result they are facing tremendous financial difficulties.The protestors demanded immediate release of their pending honorariums and regularization of their services.Last year Government ordered to disengage 918 helpers to supervisors in Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme of Social Welfare Department. However protestors alleged that 5000 new posts are being advertised by the govt under ICDS.In addition, the workers alleged that they have not been paid since 3 years. “We never get salary on time but our work should be on point and on time. It has been years since we are waiting for our salaries. We protested and raised our voice but it seems to have fallen on deaf ears. We request governor sahib to listen to us and regularize us on priority basis as we have given almost three decades to this department,” one of the protester said,They vowed to continue their struggle, saying they will continue to press for their demands till not met.Meanwhile, they appealed the LG led administration to look into the matter and fulfill their demands at an earliest so that they could heave a sigh of relief.
