District Hospital Kulgam sans Medical Superintendent post, hampers work of hospital

    Kulgam,28-May; Despite being a district hospital, the Government Hospital in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district is without a Medical Superintendent. Staff and patients in hospital have been immensely suffering as the post of MS is lying vacant.A month ago, the medical superintendent posted in Kulgam district Hospital was attached with Director Health Services Jammu due to low performance and Work thief incompetent.Officials working in the hospital while speaking to said that in absence of the full fledged medical superintendent, even for minor things they have to wait for the decision of higher ups.Doctors said that there should be full-fledged Medical Superintendent, who will have powers to run the facility smoothly; otherwise, they have to wait for minor things for long time as such decisions are being taken by higher ups.“Medical Superintendent who is basically a health officer has to send in writing to higher ups for even spending one rupee”, they added.The officials further added that in charge Medical Superintendent, who works there knows ground situation very well but when she has no powers, how can she take any step for the betterment of the hospital.The government has been taking no steps to depute official for this post. “It seems government has no knowledge about it. People are being taken for a ride and nobody bothers for them”, said a local.A local Sajjad Ahmed alleged that the doctor in charge at the moment is worse than the old one.When contacted CMO Kulgam earlier, Dr Rafiq Dobi said that new superintendent will be soon deputed in the institution.(CNS)
