    Budgam,01-Dec; In November, the Jammu and Kashmir forest department cut down several trees belonging to particular family in Rakhwahcoh village in Budgam district.Family allege that they were evicted from their farming lands by the local revenue authorities and their trees were chopped off- the only source of income for their family Ghulam Mohiudin Wani,land owner said that the laws are hardly imposed upon the people who have encroached state land and built business establishments, however, when it comes to common people who use the land for only growing food, they are attacked.Family allege that their walnut trees were destroyed by the local revenue authorities and trees were chopped off.Meanwhile, Rayees Ahmad , Naib Tehsildar khansahab, told that the forest department had cut trees on 1Kanal and 10 marla of 2 families which they were illegally using. “This land belongs to the revenue department, and all those families who have encroached land will be retrieved”, he added.The families claim that the land measuring more than 150 Kanals belong to 30 families. According to them, the officials not only destroyed their trees, but also did discriminatory behaviour with the particular family.(CNS)
