Farooq, Omar Abdullah in self-isolation after secondary contact tests positive

National Conference leaders Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah have self-isolated themselves after one of their secondary contacts tested positive for coronavirus, Omar Abdullah informed Tuesday. Taking to Twitter, Abdullah said ” My father & I have been in contact with a person who was in turn staying with a relative who tested COVID positive. Based on medical advice, we will be self-isolating for a week before getting a precautionary COVID test.”

The Union Health Ministry Tuesday reiterated the need to be careful and properly implement “Covid appropriate behaviour”. Keeping in mind the festive season complacencies, the health ministry highlighted that the “effects of polls, Durga Puja, Diwali may be seen in coming weeks. We have to keep watching new cases very carefully.” Strictly following all the precautionary measures like not visiting crowded places, taking extra care of vulnerable sections of the society and maintaining “2-feet” distance are still very important. “Don’t be hesitant to get yourself tested” in case of symptoms, the health ministry secretary said.

India detected 29,164 cases of the novel coronavirus on Monday, taking the country’s tally to 88.74 lakh. The last time India reported less than 30,000 cases was in mid-July. The drop in cases follows a pattern of low detections on Mondays due to lesser testing over the weekend. In fact, tests have remained below 10 lakh for the last four days now. India’s tally of 88,74,291 includes 4,53,401 active cases, 82,90,371 patients who have recovered and 1,30,519 deaths — the toll has been under 450 for three straight days.
