Anantnag ,23-Mar: A student died of electric shock at Government Degree College Bijbehara in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday afternoon.Sources told that the student identified as Umar Farooq son of Farooq Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Dariegund received the electric shock while fetching volleyball just outside the college premises.“He was immediately taken to the GMC Anantnag in an unconscious state, where doctors declared him dead on arrival,” they added.Confirming the death of student, police official said that the Preliminary investigations suggest that Umar had gone to fetch the ball from outside as the students were playing volleyball.‘’He went atop the fence wall and due to unbalance, came in contact with the live wire going through it and got electrocuted,” the official added.In the meantime, Students held a protest against college authorities alleging that the injured student was no evacuated for medical treatment on time.However the college authorities denied the allegations, adding it happened that once the ball went outside the said student tried to trespass and during the act received the shock.(CNS)
