Jammu, 22-Mar:Following the unprecedented public acclaim and acceptance of The Kashmir Files movie, GKPD organized a press conference to seek the Kashmiri Pandits’ right to justice.Dr. Surinder Kaul, Co-Founder GKPD stated, “The Kashmiri Pandit community wants to go on record for its heartfelt appreciation for Director Vivek Agnihotri. Vivek ji has brought his artistic creativity to give form to the cry for justice of the Kashmiri Pandits. He has shown exemplary courage in doing so. We condemn the threats on his life. Actor Anupam Kher and the entire cast have given a once in a lifetime performance. Along with the production crew, we thank all for producing this groundbreaking movie. From the common man who has lined up to see the movie to Chief Ministers who have given tax breaks to see it there has been an unprecedented outpouring of love for the Kashmiri Pandits and their enormous sufferings.Utpal Kaul, International Coordinator GKPD stated, “The Kashmiri Pandit community is facing extinction. Thirty-two years have gone by and the community is still in the wilderness. The move is primed to go to the Oscars but the world will ask why has India done nothing?”Dr. Surinder Kaul continued, “Recognizing KP Genocide is the one-pointed mission of GKPD. It is also the first step in giving justice. With it then comes the complete genocide framework on how to manage the recourse, restitution, return, rehabilitation, and resettlement of the Kashmiri Pandits in their homeland. GKPD has released its vision document on what works. It is imperative that the government of India engage with the representatives of the community so that solutions can be agreed upon.”Utpal Kaul ji concluded, “A private member bill will be tabled on April 1, 2022, in the Rajya Sabha. GKPD affiliates will reach out to all Members of the Rajya Sabha to support the bill. Hopefully, this will be the first step which leads the Kashmiri Pandit community back to their homeland with security, sustainability and non-refoulment. Now, the world will be watching and not remain silent.”(CNS)
