High Court directs tourism dept to ‘Act against illegal construction ‘

    Srinagar,10-May; The high court of JK & Ladakh on Tuesday directed the Tourism department to take appropriate action against unauthorized construction put up by influential persons on the private land owned by the resident of Bandipora area.On 07 December 2021, was passed by court in the writ petition against the director tourism for not implementing the order.The contempt petition arising out of the writ petition bearing WPC NO.2526/2021 filed through counsel Amin lone against official respondents including director tourism department, district collector Baramulla, chief executive officer Gulmarg development authority, executive engineer, electric division Tangmarg and private respondent Farooq ahmad Rafeeqi resident of baghat Barzulla.In a judgement given by justice Sanjeev kumar, Director Tourism, G.N Itoo has been directed to notice to the respondents returnable within four weeks and has been asked to respond with requisite steps within the two weeks.Aggrieved petitioner, Nazir Ahmad Rather alleged that despite court directions Tourism department has allowed ‘illegal’ construction at Drung Tangmarg.He said these elements have developed the Modus Operandi of carrying out the construction during lockdown periods so that the respondents don’t approach the court.He alleged that concerned implementing agencies are hand in glove with these unscrupulous elements and turn blind eye to court orders which have clearly directed to maintain a status quo.It is pertinent to mention here that various areas under Gulmarg development authority have turned
