With the arrest of accused, Reasi Police has solved hit and run case in which a Policeman was knocked to death by an unidentified vehicle when he was riding his bike on May 11.Deceased Ramesh Chander (Sgct), son of Om Prakash of Brabi, Tehsil Nowshera, District Rajouri, was hit by an unidentified vehicle when he was on way from Nowshera to Katra. He was shifted to District Hospital Reasi where he succumbed to his injuries.In this connection, a case FIR number 28/2022, under section 279 304A IPC was registered at Police Station Pouni and investigation was started. SSP Reasi constituted multiple teams of Police Station Pouni to trace the vehicle and arrest the accused on priority. Police teams rounded up a number of suspects and put them under interrogation. After sustained efforts, Police team zeroed in driver of one Dumper bearing registration number JK 02 BM 9668.Vehicle was traced and driver of the vehicle, identified as Showkat Ali, son of Altaf Shah of Doongi Laiter Pouni was detained. During sustained interrogation, he confessed about the commission of crime.On this Showkat was formally arrested and his vehicle was also got seized in the instant case.
