Kupwara,27-Apr;Agriculture Production & Farmer’s Welfare Department and Border Security Force (BSF) continuing with the collective efforts to reach out to the farmers of far flung and border areas of Kashmir Division today organized a farmers outreach program at Keran Kupwara.The outreach program was jointly inaugurated by Inspector General of Border Security Force (BSF) Raja Babu Singh and Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal in presence of Chief Agriculture Officer Kupwara Nazir Ahmad Wani, besides senior officers of the department and border security force and a large gathering of farmers.While speaking on the occasion, I.G BSF Raja Babu Singh said that during last few weeks due to the collective efforts of Department and BSF has organized farmers outreach programs at different border areas and this endeavour will definitely serve the purpose. He said such farmer centric outreach programs for the people of border areas will continue in coming days. He highlighted the need to strengthen the cooperation between BSF, Agriculture Department and farmers for the overall development of agriculture sector in border areas.Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal on the occasion said that the Department is committed to the development of far flung and border areas of Kashmir valley. He further added that BSF and the Department has already devised a strategy for capacity building and skill empowerment of the farming community of the border areas.Chowdhary Iqbal highlighted the objectives of organizing farmer outreach programs and said such mass campaigns are intended to focus on farmers at gross root level and to take feedback from the farmers with respect to the impact of implementation of various schemes. He appreciated the farmers’ participation in the program and urged them to come forward and work in a coordinated manner for overall development of agriculture sector in these border areas.04 numbers of Maize shellers along with all accessories were distributed among panchayats free of cost, seedlings of different vegetables, hybrid maize and sweet corn were also distributed among the participating farmers.(
