J&K: 3 militant associates of LeT arrested in south Kashmir

Three militant associates of Lashkar-e-Toiba were arrested in Kashmir on Friday, officials said. They said the trio was arrested at a checkpoint jointly set up by the security forces in south Kashmir’s Shopian district. “During a Naka checking at Khudpora orchards movement of three suspects were noticed who were ordered to stop. Instead of stopping they started fleeing from the spot but were chased and arrested tactfully by the alert joint party,” a police statement said. They were identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Dar, Nadeem Rafiq Rather and Rouf Mushtaq Najar – all residents of Shopian. “The three are terror associates of LeT,” it said. “Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including a pistol, a magazine, eight pistol rounds, a hand grenade, an AK-47 Magazine, 20 AK live rounds were recovered from their possession,” police said. Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Shopian and further investigation into the matter is in progress.
