Jammu and Kashmir Pollution Control Board today seized a huge stock of banned polythene during an anti-Polythene drive in Jammu city.The drive was conducted under the supervision of Member Secretary J&K PCC, B. M. Sharma and Regional Director Jammu, Sat Pal under the directions of the Chairperson J&K PCC, Dr. Neelu Gera.A Team comprising officers of J&K PCC raided a godown at Gole Puli, Auto Stand near Baba Sehaj Nath Mandir and seized banned polythene carry bag (less than 75 microns) weighing approx 2000 kgs.J&K PCC has intensified its drive against the use of banned polythene and single use of plastic items and initiated the process of punishing the defaulters and also includes imposing heavy penalties. J&K PCC also advised the general public to desist from accepting the goods from shopkeepers, hawkers or vegetable and fruit vendors etc packed in banned polythene carry bags having thickness less than 75 microns to ensure that environment is kept clean and safe.
