JU organises first vaccination drive for its employees

    JAMMU: Moving ahead in its ongoing efforts to contain the spread of COVlD-19, the University of Jammu organised its first vaccination drive for its employees, their dependents and the members of the civil society aged above 45 years. More than 100 persons participated in the said drive after following the proper social distancing norms and other COVID related protocols.It is pertinent to mention here that due to unprecedented surge in COVID-19 cases, the University administration led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Manoj Kumar Dhar has taken several proactive measures including constitution of an Advisory Committee and a Task Force headed by Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Registrar, for ensuring the well being of the various stakeholders of the University. The University Health Centre has been issuing repeated instructions and advisories from time to time, highlighting the preventive measures which are needed to be taken for containing the spread of Corona virus and is closely monitoring the situation in the campus. The Health Centre, University of Jammu has been providing medical and sanitation services in the University ranging from Thermal scanning of employees at main gates to the regular sanitation drives covering all Departments, offices and the residential areas, mass testing of the students, employees, and their dependents whenever required, since onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.Reinforcing the need for ensuring safety of every human life, the Vice Chancellor has been advising the stakeholders to take all precautions and observe Covid appropriate behaviour strictly. Vice chancellor observed that in view of the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic, it is absolutely necessary to get vaccinated. He conveyed sincere thanks to Chief Medical Officer, Jammu, Dr. J. P. Singh, Dy. CMO Dr. Poonam Sethi and other team members for successful conduct of the vaccination drive in the University of Jammu. Prof Dhar complimented Dr. Bharat Bhushan, MO, University of Jammu and his team for providing continuous support to all the stake holders of the University of Jammu in facing the COVID Pandemic related challenges.Dr Bharat Bhushan thanked the medical team consisting Dr Simranjeet Kour, Harminder Singh, Mohd Toyeeb, Shivani and Kuljeet Kour. He appreciated efforts of the Pharmacists, University Health Centre, Mr. Ravi Gupta, Mr. Pawan Singh, Mr. Himanshu and other staff members who contributed in organising a successful vaccination drive in Jammu university.Dr Bharat Bhushan further informed that another vaccination drive shall be organised in the University shortly for those employees and the members of civil society who were left out in this drive for 45 yrs and above and afterwards those in the age group 18-44 years will also be vaccinated by organising more Vaccination drives for them.
