KP’s continue to protest demanding relocation from Valley

    Srinagar, 21-May; Despite the government’s efforts to pacify the Kashmiri Pandit community living in the Kashmir Valley, the community members continue to register their protest on Saturday again in Rajbagh area of Srinagar in Central Kashmir to register their protest against the killing of Rahul Bhat at Chadoora, Budgam.The members of the community assembled near Bund in Lal Mandi area of the city and held a puja in the Jhelum River for Bhat, who was shot dead by militants inside the Tehsil office in Budgam district’s Chadoora town on May 12.Soon after the puja culminated, the protesters began a march towards Lal Chowk.”We will not accept any decision of the government regarding our safety and security, without relocation we want nothing, ” the protesters said.Chanting slogans they demanded an end to the targeted killings of the members of the Pandit community. The protesters said that their only demand is to relocate them from Kashmir as they don’t feel safe here.My heart is broken, and we have returned to the valley only after assurance by the Government. We did not come here to die. I along with my family are afraid and clueless about what to do ahead. Our parents have struggled to send us to educational institutions and make us independent, but they didn’t send us here to die. They want the children to be happy and not get their dead bodies, “a female protester said.Protests have been held at several places in Jammu and Kashmir over the killing of Bhat as well as the “failure” of the administration to provide security to Kashmiri Pandit employees.(CNS)
