Kupwara, 21-Mar; Four residential houses were gutted in a pre-dawn fire at Ganai Mohalla area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday.An official of fire and emergency department confirmed that after receiving the information about the blaze, fire engines were rushed to the area. “Four houses, one of them three-storey and others two-storey, were damaged in the blaze which was contained after hectic efforts”, the official added.A police official said that the cause of fire was not known immediately. One personnel of the F&E department, Gulzar Ahmad, was also injured while dousing the flames, the official said.However, Locals said had the fire tenders reached the spot on time the blaze could have been controlled much earlier. Appreciating the efforts of Army’s 44RR and local police in dousing off the flames, Army officials have offered the full support to the victims.Meanwhile, locals appealed to the district administration to rehabilitate the affected family on priority basis.(CNS)
