UDHAMPUR, June 23: Locals of Chenani have demanded opening and repairing of road from Panchayat Tandar to Power House Udhampur.This 25 km road of Chenani Hydel Project from Panchyat Tandar to Power House Udhampur near Jakhani, is an alternative road for the people during closure of National Highway due in landslides or widening work. This is the only alternative road for vehicular movement from Chenani to Udhampur but the same is restricted by the Hydel Project authorities.The locals have been demanding since long for opening of this road for general public and the issue was variously taken up before the district administration following which temporary permission was granted for plying only Light Motor Vehicle.“If the traffic is allowed to move on this alternative road and the required repair work is done, many problems of the local people will get solved,” said the villagers, who claimed restrictions on movement by the authorities.
