No movement of pilgrims to Valley todayNo movement of pilgrims to Valley todayEditor July 10, 2022JAMMU: With the Amarnath pilgrimage suspended temporarily due to the flash floods at the cave shrine, there will be no movement of pilgrims from Jammu to Kashmir on Sunday. Though 6,048 pilgrims started their journey from Jammu towards Baltal and Nunwan base camps in Kashmir on Saturday morning, no further movement will be allowed to avoid rush at the Kashmir base camps till the pilgrimage resumes. The pilgrims went in over 110 vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar. In a statement, Jammu Deputy Commissioner Avny Lavasa urged the pilgrims coming from other states not to reach Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar on Sunday, but other 30 lodging centres in the city. The administration has already made arrangements to accommodate 15,000 pilgrims in different lodging centres. Food from community kitchens will be provided to them. Due to the flash floods at Amarnath cave, the pilgrimage has been temporarily suspended from two base camps in Kashmir towards the cave shrine. The lodging centres in Jammu are located at the railway station, Gandhi Nagar, Nanak Nagar, Purani Mandi, Geeta Bhawan and Nagrota among other places. The traffic police, in its advisory, stated that no yatra convoys would move from Bhagwati Nagar on Sunday. Tourists and local residents have been asked to undertake journey on the Jammu-Srinagar highway only after confirming its status from the control units.
