Notorious drug Smuggler arrested at Uri

SSP Baramulla told that On routine naka checking, Baramulla Police under the supervision of Junaid Wali-JKPS assisted by Inspr. Mohd Ashraf, SHO Police Station Uri arrested 01 drug peddler namely Mushtaq Hussain resident of Dani Basgran Uri, District Baramulla at Dachi Uri and recovered 1.7 Kgs of Cannibas like substance from his possession.Meanwhile a Case under NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Uri and investigation set in motion.General People of Uri Town hailed the efforts of Baramulla Police and showed their willingness to support police in eradicating menace of Drugs from the society which is the real sign of Police Public relationship.It is pertinent to mention here that the constant pressure was mounted upon the drug peddlers to curb this menace in the district, which resulted decline in drug trafficking.During the month of February-2022, 16 cases stands registered in which 19 persons were arrested. Huge quantity of contraband like Heroin, Brown Sugar, Charas, Poppy Straw, tablets, syrups worth crores (value in black market) were seized in the district.People are requested to come forward with information regarding Drug Peddlers of their areas so that drug menace can be eradicated from the society.(CNS)
