The NSS unit of Govt. College of Engineering & Technology (GCET), Jammu today organised a Plantation Drive under Clean India Campaign, an initiative of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to commemorate Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav- Celebration of India’s 75 years of Independence. The drive was initiated under the patronage of worthy principal of the college Dr. Sameru Sharma. While leading the mass movement for go green initiativeshe exhorted the staff members, students and NSS volunteers to plant more and more trees to create a healthy atmosphere. She also encouraged all to come forward and obtain saplings from the concerned departments and plant and nurture them for a clean and green campus.The staff members and volunteers planted a number of saplings of various trees like mango, guava, pongamia etc.and a pledge was taken by all present, to takecare of these sapling. The plantation drive was organized by NSS volunteers Sakshi Bhat, Mandeep Singh, Jaanvi Sharma, Vijay Rathore under the guidance of Mr. Vishal Vaid and NSS Programme officer Dr. Raman Gupta of the college. He applauded and congratulated all the NSS volunteers for their excellent work.He also asked them all to carry on this Go Green Campaign throughout the campus and surrounding. The principal of the college also congratulated the team NSS for their sincere efforts to raise the awareness of plantation and go green campaign among common people also.
