Shopian ,10-May; A civilian injured during initial stage of encounter at Pandoshan area of Shopian succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday morning,officials said. As per officials, civilian identified as Shahid Gani Dar son of Abdul Gani Dar resident of Pandoshan Shopian succumbed to his injuries at 92 base hospital Srinagar. On Monday evening that two civilians were injured during the initial exchange of fire. “During initial cordon & search operation, (militants) fired upon civilians and tried to escape, in which two civilians got injured. Both the injured shifted to hospital. One of them is critical,” police had said in a tweet late last night. The civilians as well as the soldier were shifted to army hospital and one of the civilians, Shahid Gani Dar son of Abdul Gani Dar succumbed to injuries, they said. Another civilian Shoaib Ahmad Mantoo and soldier Sanjeev Das, are said to be stable.Meanwhile, official sources confirmed that operation has been called off as militants have managed to escape from the spot.(CNS)
