Srinagar, 12-Nov: A militant was killed in a gunfight in Srinagar that broke out on Thursday night. The police identified him as Aamir Riyaz, an affiliate of the militant outfit Mujahideen Gazwatul Hind.”Terrorist killed in #Srinagar #Encounter identified as Aamir Riyaz of Khrew #Pulwama affiliated with proscribed terror outfit Mujahideen Gazwatul Hind. He was relative of one of the accused of #LethporaTerrorAttack and was assigned to carry out fidayeen attack,” he said while quoting IGP Kashmir.Riyaz, as per an official, was killed in a brief gunfight with the security forces in Bemina area of the city last night. An AK-47 rifle was recovered from his possession, he said.Earlier, an official informed that a joint team of police, Army and CRPF, after receiving information about the presence of militants, launched a search operation in the area during which hiding militants opened fire which was responded accordingly.(CNS)
