Suspected object recovered and destroyed along Lolab Kupwara road

    Kupwara, 03-Dec; A “shell type object” was found lying along Kupwara-Lolab road at Goos in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, officials said.“ Based on specific input Army while carrying out searches along the main roads for suspected IED. On 03 Dec 2021 at about 1145 hrs suspicious metal cylindrical object connected to a battery by wires was noticed lying along the culvert of road leading from Kupwara to Kalarooch”, officials said.The area was immediately cordoned off, jointly by troops of Army(41RR),140 Bn BSF & SOG (Kupwara Police).For saving the lives of locals and avoiding any untoward incident traffic was halted on the road.A bomb disposal squad(BDS) team was called in to the site, an official said adding the vehicular traffic along the road was also suspended and with due diligence and safety BDS team moved the suspected object from road to a safer place in jungle .Later, the suspected object was destroyed by the Bomb disposal team and the traffic was opened on the road and assurance was provided to the locals that everything is safe now.Officials said that the synergised efforts of Indian Army, BSF and Kupwara Police averted a major incident from occurring thus saving the innocent lives of locals.(CNS)
