World Heritage day, celebrations held at BHSS URI

    Srinagar,19-Apr;A special assembly was conducted at BHSS URI to raise an awareness about the true meaning of heritage, its importance and the need of its preservation on Tuesday.The objective behind conducting this special assembly was to enlighten students about the value and significance, the world’s heritage holds. Protecting and preserving was the take out from this special session conducted. Children were familiarized with the rich cultural heritage we have, along with the existing diversification worldwide, and how we need to work towards protecting and conserving it.Principal BHSS URI Mushtaq Sopori while addressing the assembly explained to school children the meaning and importance of rich cultural heritage and advised them to preserve & conserve our legacy.Sopori motivated the students and told them to feel proud to be Indian and mentioned that inspite of diversities, we are one and we must respect our culture.It is worthwhile to mention here that the institution has already established, the one of its kind-A HERITAGE GALLERY in the institution under the abled guidance of Principal Mushtaq Sopori..Senior Lecturer Shafiq Ahmad Sheikh and Zonal cultural coordinator-Zone Uri Aftab Ahmad Kakroo also addressed the assembly and urged for promoting and preserving our rich cultural heritage through which we can actually preserve the cultural integrity of a community as well. “Deterioration or disappearance of any item of the cultural or natural heritage constitutes a harmful impoverishment of the heritage of all the nations”, they added.The event ended with a pledge to preserve our cultural heritage.(CNS)
