Bagh-e-Islam residents demand additional transformer

Kupwara ,`26 Aug; The local residents of Vilgam Bagh-e-Islam area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday demanded the Power Development Department (PDD) to provide another transformer in the area. The locals said that they have been repeatedly demanding up gradation of transformer, allotment of old transformer and accused the concerned authorities of not paying heed to their repeated pleas.Mushtaq Ahmad, a local, said that the village has a 250-KV transformer which was allotted by the local Sarpanch after the old transformer got damaged thrice in a month.“250KV transformers couldn’t suffice the load of 60 households. The electricity which we are receiving is of no use as we have been using candle lights during dinner time and even LED lamps are not working on it”, added Ahmad.The residents’ urged the government to provide another transformer which they have brought with their own money so the problem could be solved on an immediate basis as the winter is approaching.The local residents also requested the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and Chief Engineer of PDD to look into the matter.(CNS)
