KATHUA: Around 180 kilograms of polythene bags and 40 kilograms of non-biodegradable plastic glasses comouflaged as paper cups were seized at Lakhanpur. As per sources, during routine checking at Import Side Check Point Lakhanpur, a joint team of Anti Polythene Check Post comprising of Forest (T), FPF and PCB headed by Munish Gupta Range Officer intercepted a truck bearing registration number PB02CC-8871 coming from outside Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. During physical checking, the vehicle was found to be loaded with 180 kilograms of polythene bags less than 50 microns and non-biodegradable plastic glasses 40 kilograms camouflaged as paper cups. The said contraband alongwith vehicle and other stuff were seized under the different provision of the J&K Non Biodegradable (Management, Handling and Disposal) Act, 2007, J&K Non Biodegradable (Management, Handling and Disposal) Rules, 2009 read with SRO 45 Dated 03.02.2017 and SRO 231 Dated 26.03.2019. The whole operation was carried out under the supervision of Rahul Singh, DFO Kathua.
