RAMBAN, MARCH 08: As part of the ongoing nationwide Azadi Ka Amri Mahotsav, the Department of Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare organised an Awareness cum Training Camp for women under Agriculture Technology Mission Agency (ATMA) at Panchayat Ghar in Kenthi village here today.The programme was coordinated by a team of Agriculture Department officers led by Subject Matter Specialist, Sunil Gupta under the supervision of Chief Agriculture Officer, Dr. Ashwani Sharma.In the camp after registering 25 of these women to form their Self Help Group (SHG) these women were educated on various Centrally Sponsored Schemes meant for farmers’ welfare and imparted training about Dhingri mushroom growing under the Food Security for Women programme by SMS, Sunil Gupta, AEO, Narinder Kumar and JAEO, Ravinder Singh.After the demonstration by officers these women also tried their hand in stuffing the bags with wet straw and mixing specified spawn in them and then packing them.According to Sunil Gupta, under the Food Security for Women programme this SHG of women will be provided free material for Dhingri mushroom cultivation besides technical guidance to uplift their financial status and make them self reliant.”We are grateful to these officers who came to our doorstep here in our village to aware us about some useful government sponsored schemes for us and also forming our Self Help Group”, a trainee added.Now after getting trained by them we are interested in mushroom cultivation. It is a very cheap and easy way of earning for women who can do it without requiring even land and consuming much time,” said a trainee woman, Guddi Devi.
