Amid tight security, grenade attack in Srinagar

Srinagar, 25-Jan: In a major threat to national security just a day ahead of Republic Day, Militants on Tuesday launched grenade at security forces at Srinagar’s Hari Singh High Street.Sources told that militants attacked by lobbing a grenade towards security forces but it missed the target and exploded on the road, injuring 4 civilians.They identified the injured as ACB Inspector Tanveer Hussain of Budgam, Tanveera, 38, wife of Muhammad Shafi Bhat of Chattabal, Muhammad Shafi Bhat, 43, son of Ghulam Muhammad of Chattabal and Asmat, 40, wife of Zahoor Ahmad Hajam of Charar-e-Shareef.”The injured have been shifted to hospital for treatment. Searches were started in the area which was cordoned off immediately after the grenade explosion,” a police officer said.(CNS)
