Srinagar,03-March; The Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Association (AWHA) on Saturday held a protest demonstration in Press Enclave Srinagar pressing for their demands.Hundreds of Anganwadi workers from various districts of Kashmir under the banner of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Welfare Association led by Tasleema Subhan, assembled at Pratap Park to participate in the protest rally and were demanding increase in their wages at par with the other states in country. “We demand enhancement of salary for Anganwadi workers and helpers,” said Tasleema Subhan, President Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Association.She said that every government has failed to fulfill its promises done with the thousands of workers. “We have been pressing for our demands from past years but unfortunately, the LG administration is not paying heed over our demands. Thus, pushing our families to face hardships, she said.The protesters asserted that their services have been utilised for other activities including election duties, helping people with Aadhar card,Ladli Beti scheme,polio vaccination, verification of ration cards and others.Subhaan said that the government must enhance their monthly honorarium at an earliest so that the workers here could heave a sigh of relief.“We are not enough wages that creates financial difficulties for us . Now we requested the higher authorities to enhance our Honorarium on monthly basis,” She said.(CNS)
